“Come on, pl-ease let met compare my number with you!”

“Amber, I’m trying to study,” Not really though. Mara, afraid of what would happen, opted for chickening out of getting her number read. And plus, it was just a dumb game; she had no time for games.

“Please, please, please, please, please?” Amber begged, hands clasped below her chin, blinking madly. 

“Fine,” Mara smiled. Amber did her numbers and compared them promptly to hers, and became silent. 

“Uh, Amber, what’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” 

“No, it’s just, we’re perfect for each other.”

“What?”

“This says that we are perfect for each other.”

“Amber don’t take it seriously-“

“Oh, no-no, the gods never lie. And even if they’re aren’t any gods, this is science. Well then, we may as well do this properly is this is what the gods want. So I can expect to see you at seven tomorrow?”

“It was just a stupid little test,” but maybe it wasn’t. See, Mara had always had this thing for Amber. She’d thought it jealousy at first, but it steadily grew into what was recognisable as a crush. 

“Mara, it’s science,” Amber exaggerated,” And don’t forget about our date!” She said as she strode out of the room, leaving Mara more-or-less confused.
